Launch of a convergence alliance to lead Gyeongnam’s core industry DX
Expected to improve DX capabilities in key industries such as machinery, defense, and aviation
The Korea Electronics Technology Institute (KETI, President Shin Hee-dong) is launching a convergence alliance to lead the industrial digital transformation of the Gyeongnam region, and it is expected that the digital transformation capabilities of key industries such as machinery, defense, and aviation will be enhanced.
On the 26th, KETI held a ceremony to launch a convergence alliance to support resolving technical difficulties in Gyeongnam's main industries and leading industries as part of the '2024 Industrial Digital Transformation Expansion Support System Construction Project' at the Changwon Southeast Regional Headquarters in Gyeongnam.
KETI was designated as the first non-metropolitan Gyeongnam region industrial digital transformation cooperation support center in May 2023, and in January of this year, it was selected as the main organization for the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy's industrial digital transformation expansion support system construction project. It has been promoting the establishment of a convergence alliance to support the customized AI processes of promising Gyeongnam companies and solve technological challenges.
Many key figures attended the inauguration ceremony that day, including Gyeongsangnam-do Industrial Policy Division Director Park Gyeong-hun, Changwon City Future Strategy Industry Division Director Seo Jeong-guk, KETI Southeast Regional Headquarters Director Yoo Se-hyeon, and Gyeongnam Technopark Director Kim Jeong-hwan.
In the future, the Alliance plans to provide customized support by forming specialized research groups and operating committees for each sector based on a demand survey on technical difficulties in key industries in Gyeongnam, such as robotics, digital, smart machinery, aerospace, and defense.
/> Specifically, the research group discovers and plans leading tasks that can lead the manufacturing DX transformation of Gyeongnam companies, and the steering committee establishes the direction of task planning and continues to provide suggestions necessary for establishing DX policies.
Last August, the Alliance completed the selection of key research groups focusing on topics such as intelligent smart factories, low-orbit satellite communication operation centers for maritime control, and IDX platforms based on 3D measurement data to lead the development of Gyeongnam DX technology.
In addition, KETI plans to diagnose the DX capabilities of five manufacturing companies in Jinju, Changwon, and Gimhae, Gyeongnam, and promote the advancement of the entire manufacturing process of companies by developing AI algorithm models for improving difficult technologies and processes.
KETI Southeast Regional Headquarters Director Yoo Se-hyun said, “As the government’s industrial digital transformation policy is being implemented without fail, it is very timely for Gyeongsangnam-do to support customized DX for regional key industries and companies such as machinery, defense, and aviation.” He added, “KETI Southeast Regional Headquarters will do its best to help promising regional companies’ value chains rise to the next level as a key base leading Gyeongsangnam-do’s industrial DX.”
