Automatica Participates in AI-Based AGV System and Safety Solution Presentation
Siemens Digital Industries Korea is accelerating the realization of complete autonomy in smart factories through an AGV (automatic guided vehicle) solution that combines AI (artificial intelligence) and robotics technology.
Siemens Digital Industries Korea presented a new AI-based AGV system and safety solution for implementing autonomous production at the world's largest automation exhibition, Automatica, held in Munich, Germany from June 24 to 27.
The key presentation at this exhibition is the construction of a multi-agent system based on physical and virtual AI agents centered on Operations Copilot.
Operations Copilot is an industrial AI assistant that interacts with autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) and AGVs, helping users set up and assign transport tasks within the factory.
In particular, it is evaluated as a platform that can realize 'automation of automation', which automates factory automation itself by incorporating generative AI technology.
Siemens plans to significantly improve complex commissioning processes and operational efficiency by adding AI agents dedicated to AMRs and AGVs to Operations Copilot.
AGV had high initial application difficulty due to IT/OT infrastructure integration and customization, but this systemTem precisely analyzes the driving environment using sensors and cameras installed in the vehicle and automatically links real-time technical documents and data.
“By connecting physical AI and virtual AI into one Copilot, we are revolutionizing the collaboration model between people and robots,” said Rainer Brehm, CEO of Siemens Digital Industries Factory Automation.
In addition, Siemens also unveiled a software-based safety solution, ‘Safe Velocity’, to enhance AGV driving safety.
The solution can monitor the speed of AGVs in real time and dynamically adjust the protection zone of laser safety scanners.
TUV certified Safe Velocity is compatible with a variety of AGV hardware and meets safety standards without additional hardware, simplifying wiring and increasing space efficiency.
In the future, Operations Copilot will be able to link with Safe Velocity to predict the driving speed and risk factors of AGVs and automatically execute necessary control commands.
This will allow us to simultaneously improve the safety and agility of factory automation.
Through its participation in this Automatica, Siemens is demonstrating the feasibility of next-generation factory automation solutions based on AI and autonomous systems, further strengthening its position as a key player in accelerating industrial autonomy.
