CES 2024 'Best Innovation Award' to be piloted in Pangyo next April
HL Mando, a company specializing in EV and autonomous driving solutions within the HL Group, has unveiled its autonomous parking robot, ‘Parkie.’
HL Mando also held a demonstration of its autonomous parking robot ‘Parkie’ on the 14th. Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Bang Moon-kyu, who attended the demonstration, said, “I was amazed by HL Mando’s autonomous parking robot technology,” and praised the development achievements of HL Mando’s Robot Business Division (MSTG) and its winning of the CES 2024 Best of Innovation Awards.
The 'Best Innovation Award' is given to only 36 products, or about 1% of the 3,000 entries. Parky received the Best Innovation Award for its cutting-edge robotics technology, as well as its space creation and fully autonomous driving technology.
Parkie is an autonomous parking robot (AMR: Autonomous Mobile Robot). Equipped with level 4 autonomous driving technology, Parkie recognizes surrounding obstacles, driving paths, tires, license plates, etc., and independently determines the distance between wheels, the vehicle's center of gravity, etc.
That's why Paki is called a valet robot. Paki is 9cm (centimeters) tall. Paki, which crawls perfectly on the ground, can transport all types of vehicles, from sports cars to high-clearance SUVs. There is no need for separate infrastructure such as auxiliary facilities. Among the various advantages, the most notable one is the economic effect.
Parki can achieve savings of about 20% compared to mechanical parking facilities. This is because it does not require separate equipment such as steel frames, rails, and chains. The annual payment amount of the domestic parking market amounts to 15 trillion won. Parki is expected to contribute to improving efficiency and creating added value by redefining parking space.
Parkey plans to begin pilot operation of valet parking in Pangyo starting in April next year.
