±1mV sensor accuracy · AEC-Q100 certification, ASIL-D functional safety support
As the demand for precision in electric vehicle battery management systems (BMS) increases, Mouser Electronics has expanded its lineup of electric vehicle components by supplying a new automotive battery monitor from Texas Instruments (TI).

Mouser Electronics announced on the 6th that it has started supplying TI's bq79,716b-Q1 automotive 16S battery monitor.

The bq79,716b-Q1 precisely measures battery cell voltage based on an analog-to-digital converter (ADC) architecture and is designed for application in Battery Management Systems (BMS) for electric vehicle (EV) applications.

TI explained that the bq79,716b-Q1 can improve the accuracy of electric vehicle driving range prediction based on a sensor accuracy of ±1mV.

Each device can measure 9 to 16 series battery cells, and up to 64 devices can be stacked to support large-capacity battery systems.

It provides various channel options within the same package type to ensure pin-to-pin compatibility, and enables the reuse of existing software and hardware across multiple platforms.

In terms of automotive safety requirements, AEC-QIt has obtained 100 certification and supports device temperature class 1 with an operating temperature range of -40°C to +125°C.

It also satisfies HBM ESD classification level 2 and CDM ESD classification level C1.

In addition, it features ASIL-D level system and hardware performance, and relevant documentation for ISO 26,262 system design is also provided.

It can be applied to both centralized and distributed architectures of xEV powertrains using daisy-chain configurations isolated by transformers or capacitors.
