STMicroelectronics has launched a new sensor evaluation board that is expected to significantly improve the evaluation and development process of MEMS sensors.

ST has released its latest sensor evaluation board, the STEVAL-MKI109D.

The product features upgraded hardware including the STM32H5 microcontroller, a USB-C connector, and an I3C interface for flexible communications.

This enables faster and more robust development of situational awareness applications using MEMS sensors.

The STEVAL-MKI109D connects to a PC via simple plug-and-play, and ST MEMS Studio software allows users to visualize sensor output, fine-tune settings, and execute AI capabilities of ST sensors with a machine-learning core and intelligent sensor processing unit.

ST's extensive portfolio of MEMS sensors offers a variety of options tailored to industrial, consumer, and automotive grades.

These ultra-small sensors are suitable for a wide range of applications including smartphones, wearables, smart home devices, industrial sensing, healthcare, and environmental monitoring, while the automotive-grade devices target applications such as navigation assistance, advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), and autonomous driving.

Evaluation modules are provided for each sensor type, allowing rapid sensor evaluation via plug-and-play accessories when building proof-of-concept models and developing prototypes.

The STEVAL-MKI109D board is available for $105 from ST authorized distributors and eSTore, and ST MEMS Studio is available for download now from www.st.com/mems-studio, with the ability to automatically receive the latest software and firmware updates.
