Government support will help overcome the current crisis
The semiconductor industry welcomed the government's plan to strengthen financial investment in semiconductors.
On the 15th, the Korea Semiconductor Industry Association announced a welcoming statement regarding the government's 'Measures to Strengthen Financial Investment to Preempt Global Semiconductor Competitiveness.'
According to the Semiconductor Association, they have expressed deep concern about the growing global uncertainty and the resulting industrial crisis, and have continuously requested financial support from the government to overcome this. They added that this announcement is a welcome relief to the semiconductor industry, which has been on edge since the inauguration of the new U.S. administration, and they thank the government for its efforts to support the semiconductor industry even in difficult financial circumstances.
In particular, he said that the expansion of national funding for advanced manufacturing facility infrastructure, the establishment of subsidies for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) investment, and the expansion of low-interest loans will be strong driving forces for corporate investment expansion, while the creation of a fabless and SME demonstration environment and programs for nurturing and attracting high-level talent will support the strengthening of the industrial ecosystem.
The semiconductor industry then stated that it will use this government support as a stepping stone to overcome the current crisis and prepare for future markets, thereby faithfully fulfilling its role as a key national industry.
He also said that while our semiconductor industry has overcome numerous crises over the past 50 years, it is now facing a crisis of a different level than in the past, and that the global competitive environment has become more complex and intense than ever due to competition for technological hegemony and reorganization of the supply chain, and that it is time for a new solution to respond to this.
The Semiconductor Association asks for the government's continued interest and support in the future to secure fundamental competitiveness that is not swayed by external factors, and for the semiconductor industry. He also said that he would work closely with the provincial government.
