Launch of high-current, low-voltage automotive power solutions
STMicroelectronics, a global semiconductor leader, has launched a power solution for applications that require high-current, low-voltage post-regulation, such as telematics, head-up displays, and infotainment, solving complex in-vehicle loads.
ST announced on the 7th that it has introduced a new high-performance step-down converter DCP0606Y targeting the automotive industry.
This product is a power solution optimized for advanced vehicle systems that require high current and low voltage regulation, and its strength is that it can stably supply up to 6A of current at a low output voltage of 0.6V.
The DCP0606Y integrates high-side and low-side MOSFETs, gate drivers, control circuits, and protection devices into a 3 mm x 2 mm QFN package, minimizing the use of external components and saving design space.
Additionally, it allows frequency selection between 1.8MHz and 4MHz with a single resistor, increasing design flexibility when adopting low-capacity capacitors and inductors.
The chip is suitable for digital core power such as ADAS, head-up display (HUD), infotainment, and telematics, and includes various specialized functions such as frequency dithering for EMI noise suppression, low-noise and low-power mode, soft start, and Power Good (PG) function.
Maximum 93% power efficiency and 10μA standby current contribute to low power operation.
The DCP0606Y operates on 3.3 V and 5 V input voltage rails, and the output voltage can be freely adjusted from 0.6 V to the input voltage.
Fixed output versions (e.g. 1.0 V, 1.2 V, etc.) are also available upon customer request, and durability and stability are ensured with overvoltage, overcurrent, overheating protection and automatic recovery functions.
AEC-Q100 Grade 1 certification ensures stable operation even in harsh environments from -40°C to 150°C.
Pricing starts at $0.95 for 1,000-piece quantities, and more information can be found on the official ST website.
