Support for TSN, AVB, and hardware-based redundancy functions ensures stable communication.
Microchip Technology (Asia General Manager and Korea Representative Byung-Don Han) has dramatically improved the reliability and scalability of industrial networks with its next-generation Gigabit Ethernet switch.
Microchip Technology Inc. announced today the availability of its next-generation Gigabit Ethernet switch family, the LAN9645xF and LAN9645xS.
This product supports TSN (Time-Sensitive Networking), AVB (Audio Video Bridging), and hardware-based redundancy functions, ensuring stable communication even in complex industrial environments.
The LAN9645xF/S switches are available in 5-, 7-, and 9-port options that integrate up to five 10/100/1000BASE-T PHYs and can operate as standalone unmanaged systems or in managed mode supporting Linux® Distributed Switch Architecture (DSA), providing flexibility for a variety of applications.
The LAN9645xF supports TSN and AVB functions, and achieves seamless failover and packet loss-free communication even in the event of a failure through PRP (Parallel Redundancy Protocol) and HSR (High Availability Seamless Redundancy) based on the IEC 62439-3 standard.
On the other hand, the LAN9645xS is designed as a low-cost unmanaged switch with some PTP (Precision Time Protocol) features, making it a cost-effective network switch.Suitable for building workspaces.
“The LAN9645xF/S integrates TSN and redundancy capabilities into a single solution, making it easier for customers to design and deploy industrial networks,” said Charlie Forni, vice president of Microchip’s Networking and Communications Business Unit. “Their global technical support and development tools also help reduce system implementation costs.”
The LAN9645xF/S family provides high-performance networking solutions for industrial automation, aerospace, defense, data centers, and sustainability applications. Ecosystem integration with Microchip's MCU, memory, and timing solutions enables reliable and scalable networks in demanding environments.
The product supports the development environment through the LAN96459 EDS2 Daughter Card (EV14H52A) and LAN96459 Unmanaged Base Board (EV03E14A) that can be used with the Curiosity Evaluation Board.
Limited sample quantities are currently available for purchase, and inquiries and purchases can be made through Microchip's official website or authorized distributors.
