Samsung SDS Cloud-based ANSYS CAE solution supply and technical support

ANSYS Korea (CEO Park Ju-il), a global engineering simulation leader, and Samsung SDS (CEO Hwang Sung-woo), a leader in cloud business in the defense and national defense sectors, have joined hands to supply and provide technical support for ANSYS CAE solutions based on Samsung SDS cloud.

Ansys announced on the 22nd that it signed a business agreement (MOU) with Samsung SDS for cooperation in cloud business in the defense and national defense sectors.

This agreement signing ceremony, held at Samsung SDS Tower on Olympic-ro, Songpa-gu, Seoul, was prepared to expand cloud business and strengthen competitiveness in the defense and national defense sectors. Key officials from both companies, including Ansys Korea CEO Park Ju-il and Samsung SDS Cloud Service Business Division Manager Koo Hyun-jun, attended and expressed their expectations for mutual cooperation.

The two companies agreed to closely cooperate in discovering joint projects and promoting sales and proposals in the following areas: △next-generation unmanned aerial systems, △manned/unmanned combined combat systems, △DE (Digital Engineering) Lab portal, and △introduction of analysis and system engineering, in order to contribute to the advancement of complex systems required in next-generation battlefield areas such as defense, aviation, and space.

Through this agreement, ANSYS Korea will supply CAE solutions based on Samsung SDS’s cloud and be responsible for technical support and training, while Samsung SDS will provide Samsung Cloud Platform (SCP)’s GPU-centric AI cloud infrastructure optimized for ANSYS’s solutions. />
In particular, ANSYS Korea expects to be able to dramatically shorten the product development cycle by improving computational speed by a minimum of 5 times and a maximum of approximately 33 times compared to the existing CPU environment by utilizing the subscription-based GPU service (GPUaaS) of Samsung Cloud Platform (SCP).

The two companies plan to provide users with easy access to Ansys solutions as SaaS services through the SCP Marketplace, and announced that they will conduct a technology suitability assessment (PoC) to provide cloud-based solutions and build and optimize services.

“We are excited to drive new innovation in the defense and national defense sectors by combining ANSYS’ simulation solutions with Samsung SDS’s high-performance cloud infrastructure,” said Park Ju-il, CEO of ANSYS Korea. “We will continue to expand our service-type business models in various industries based on the cloud.”

Samsung SDS Cloud Service Business Unit Head (Vice President) Koo Hyeong-jun said, “This business agreement will go beyond simple technological cooperation and become an example of a manufacturing company’s business innovation through cloud-based services.” He added, “Through a service that combines Samsung SDS’s cloud technology and ANSYS’ solution know-how, we will not only improve the productivity and efficiency of the entire product development cycle, but also cooperate to provide cloud-based services to the aerospace and defense industries that are rapidly growing in the global market.”
