SKT Adot available for iPhone users… Regardless of the other party’s carrier or OS
SKT provides a service where AI provides real-time interpretation during calls.
SKT announced on the 14th that it will launch the 'A.Dot Interpretation Call' service, which provides real-time interpretation during calls based on AI. It is the launch of a new service just two months after it announced that it would provide new functions such as call recording and call summaries through 'A. Phone' last October.
The Adot interpretation call service is available to SKT Adot iPhone users. Android is not supported yet. However, it can be used even if the recipient does not use an iPhone or is not an Adot AI phone user.
SKT Adot users can receive interpretation services by pressing the interpretation call icon at the bottom of the dialer while on a call and selecting the language of their choice among Korean, English, Japanese, and Chinese. It is planned to expand to 11 languages in the future.
Previously, interpretation was possible using a separate translation app or a tool during a video call, but this is the first time in Korea that real-time interpretation is possible over the phone.

When an SKT Adot AI phone user makes a call, they select the language they want interpreted in, and once the call is connected with the recipient, a voice message is immediately sent to the recipient saying, "Please wait a moment. The call content will now be sent to a translator for interpretation." The notification content is also provided according to the selected language.
SKT said the service would be useful when domestic users who are not fluent in English are talking to hotel staff overseas to make a reservation, or vice versa. It also added that it would be useful for foreigners living in Korea who are not fluent in Korean to resolve language barrier difficulties at domestic public institutions.
SKT AI Service Business Division Manager Yonghoon Kim said, “Adot’s interpretation call service is expected to solve the problem of language barriers by combining communication technology and AI,” and “We plan to work harder to further develop Adot into an advanced AI personal assistant by expanding support for various languages in the future.”
Meanwhile, SKT's Adot was launched starting with Android in May 2022, and completed its official launch in September 2023. Based on SKT's own 'AdotX (AX) LLM,' AI personal assistant 'Adot' is innovating customers' communication experience and expanding the connection between daily life and AI services.
