Signing LOI with France CEA for AI computing technology development
AMD announced a collaboration with the French Atomic Energy and Alternative Energies Commission (CEA) on the future of AI computing. This collaboration is a research partnership between technology leaders to advance AI computing architectures, aiming to push the boundaries of energy-efficient systems that support AI workloads.
AMD announced on the 12th in California, USA that it signed a letter of intent (LOI) with the CEA to systematically cooperate with AMD and the CEA to focus on technological advancements in next-generation AI computing infrastructure.
To this end, they said they are planning a symposium on the future of AI computing with the participation of officials from each European country, global technology providers, startups, supercomputing centers, universities, and policy makers.
“AI computing continues to drive innovation across industries, and international collaboration is essential to pushing the boundaries of what’s possible,” said Ralph Wittig, AMD Fellow and Director of Research.
He also explained, “We will work with leading engineers in CEA and France to advance system architectures that meet the demands of AI workloads, bringing cutting-edge AI research closer to real-world applications and expanding joint research and development opportunities between the U.S. and France.”
“CEA is committed to driving innovation in AI computing by advancing next-generation technologies that pave the way for powerful architectures that balance performance and energy efficiency,” said Julie Galland, director of technology research at CEA.
“Our collaboration with AMD is also an important step forward in advancing international collaboration in high-performance computing and bringing together world-class expertise to address the demands of growing AI workloads. “By combining CEA’s research leadership with AMD’s cutting-edge technologies, our goal is to develop groundbreaking solutions that will shape the future of AI computing in Europe and beyond,” he added.
These efforts support AMD’s commitment to accelerating AI innovation, making AI more inclusive and sustainable, and fostering international efforts, particularly those that strengthen collaboration between U.S. and European research institutions.
