Wearable-based industrial safety solutions for preventing heat-related illnesses among outdoor workers during summer heatwaves have been further enhanced. Samsung Electronics, in collaboration with the Ministry of Employment and Labor, upgraded the 'Heat Stress Management System' by linking the Galaxy Watch LTE model with the AI B2B solution 'SmartThings Pro', and increased prediction reliability through industry-academia cooperation and clinical verification with Incheon University and Samsung Seoul Hospital.
Samsung Electronics announced on the 6th that it has advanced the heat stress management system, a core function of the 'SmartThings Pro Safety Management Solution,' in cooperation with the Ministry of Employment and Labor.
The solution was launched in September 2025 and provides personalized heat-related illness prevention functions by integrating and analyzing environmental data such as on-site temperature and humidity with biometric data such as workers' heart rate and activity levels in a cloud environment.
The key to this upgrade is the direct incorporation of the Ministry of Employment and Labor's heatwave-level work suspension criteria into the solution.
Automatic notifications are generated on the administrator dashboard based on the criteria for a heat wave advisory at a perceived temperature of 33 degrees or higher, a heat wave warning at 35 degrees or higher, and a severe heat wave warning at 38 degrees or higher.
After confirming this, the manager can immediately send a message to the worker's watch warning of heat-related illnesses and recommending rest.
It is currently being applied at the construction site of the new semiconductor production line at Samsung Electronics' Pyeongtaek Campus.
Samsung Electronics has collaborated with a research team from Incheon National University to advance a real-time core body temperature prediction algorithm that integrates and analyzes personal physical information such as height, weight, gender, and age, as well as work environment data and heart rate patterns.
We completed joint clinical validation with the Samsung Seoul Hospital Data Science Research Institute to confirm the agreement between the body's response under heat stress conditions and the algorithm's prediction results.
SmartThings Pro obtained ISO 27001 certification, the international standard for information security management systems from the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), last month.
