IoT Connected Devices Increase… Various Security Issues Faced, Such as Complexity
ST, Focusing on ‘Customer Asset Protection’… Providing Security Solutions through Continuous Maintenance and Management
As the number of devices connected to the IoT increases, the importance of security frameworks is increasing to protect embedded systems that face various security issues such as complexity.
On April 25, STMicroelectronics (hereinafter referred to as ST) introduced the understanding of STM32Trust and how it can be utilized through the webinar 'STM32Trust Webinar - Security Framework for Protecting Embedded Systems'.
This webinar was organized in the following order: △What is security? △STM32Trust framework △STM32Trust security features △STM32Trust security application cases.
Siwan Park, ST Vice President in charge of MCU FAE at ST Korea, appeared as a presenter in this webinar and said, “The need for security is increasing in the market recently,” and emphasized the importance of STM32Trust, the STM32 security framework for protecting embedded systems.

Vice President Park emphasized that ST's goal is to 'protect customer assets' and that it provides customer security solutions through continuous maintenance and management.
Security is the protection of sensitive confidentiality, truthfulness, and validity, while confidentiality is the characteristic of protecting sensitive data and ensuring secrecy.
Integrity means protecting the accuracy of data and protecting it from modification, while validity means being able to determine whether the function or data you are using is valid.
As the number and complexity of objects and end devices connected to the IoT proliferates, developers face a variety of security challenges that increase.
Representative problems include the rapid development of security technology, unclear roadmap implementation, proliferation of devices using various MCU development frameworks and RTOS systems without security applied, and lack of security expertise.
It integrates all cyber-protection resources available across the STM32 family, enabling designers to implement a robust multi-level strategy leveraging security-centric chip features and software packages.
“STM32Trust combines a wide range of expertise, design tools, and ready-to-use ST-specific software,” said Park Si-wan, vice president of ST. “It enables designers to leverage the built-in capabilities of STM32 MCUs to ensure trust between devices, prevent unauthorized access, and block side-channel attacks.”
