Keysight RFPro electromagnetic simulation software, RFIC design team test support
Samsung, “Will proceed with RF technology solution certification work with Keysight” Keysight Technologies (hereinafter Keysight) software has received certification from Samsung Foundry, signaling the start of certification work for Keysight and Samsung's RF technology solutions.
Keysight announced on the 22nd that its RFPro electromagnetic (EM) simulation software, part of its Advanced Design System (ADS) integrated tool suite, has been certified by Samsung Foundry for design engineers working with the 8-nanometer (nm) Low Power Plus (LPP) process.
The new EM simulation feature enables radio frequency integrated circuit (RFIC) design teams to pass tests in one go, together with Samsung’s Process Design Kit (PDK) for radio frequency (RF) technology for circuit and physical design.
Keysight’s ADS, RFPro, and GoldenGate are industry-leading platforms for RF and microwave circuit design that help designers solve challenging problems through advanced solutions for RFIC and EM simulation.
RFPro supports ADS, Cadence Virtuoso, Synopsys CIt is a 3D EM simulation interface integrated into the Custom Compiler environment.
RF and microwave circuit designers using this environment can easily perform interactive EM circuit co-simulation for tuning and optimization without a separate independent analysis step during layout.
RFPro includes Momentum 3D Planar and FEM Full 3D EM simulators, along with automatic expert setup features that can accelerate interactive simulations and shorten design cycles.
Samsung Foundry, a leading semiconductor foundry, provides optimized foundry solutions including advanced process technology, proven IP, and design service solutions. Samsung's 8LPP PDK now includes technical files that can be used in Keysight EDA's RFPro.
"Samsung Electronics has actively utilized Keysight's EDA to solve challenging RF problems faced by customers," said Kim Sang-yoon, Senior Vice President of the Design Technology Team at Samsung Electronics' Foundry Business Division. "The 8LPP technology certification using Keysight RFPro signifies that there was a very high correlation with silicon measurements according to Samsung Electronics' certification standards when simulations were conducted on various inductors. This is just the beginning of numerous collaborations, and Samsung Electronics plans to continue working with Keysight to certify various RF technology solutions."
Nilesh Kamdar, Senior Director and RF & Microwave Portfolio Manager at Keysight, stated, “Foundry customers require design tool solutions that help accelerate workflows and time-to-market for RFICs. As a long-time partner of the Samsung Advanced Foundry Ecosystem (SAFE™) program, Keysight EDA has been collaborating to ensure the success of common customers using Samsung’s advanced semiconductor technology. This partnership has achieved another milestone this year with RFPro’s certification regarding Samsung’s 8LPP process technology, which enables designers to perform fast and accurate EM simulations and conduct interactive analysis of EM effects in complex designs.”
