Participation in Seoul Smart Life Week, great interest in care doll service
NIPA '2024 Intelligent Home Service Demonstration and Expansion Project' Results
Wattsmatter (CEO Hak-Yong Kim) presents the future of smart home technology by introducing an innovative intelligent home solution using natural language to the public.
Wattsmatter participated in Seoul Smart Life Week (SLW) 2024 held at COEX from the 10th to the 12th and showcased the latest smart home technology and innovative solutions.
This exhibition is an important venue for forecasting the future of the smart home industry in line with the development of artificial intelligence and Internet of Things technology, and 147 companies from 72 countries around the world participated.
At this exhibition, WattsMatter, a smart home solution specialist, attracted the attention of visitors by showcasing various smart home devices that support the Matter standard, such as Matter Hub, smart curtains, light switches, and occupancy sensors, as well as intelligent home services based on generative AI.
In particular, intelligent home services utilizing care dolls for single-person households have attracted great attention.
Unlike existing smart homes that use smartphone apps or AI speakers, the intelligent home presented by Wattsmatter uses natural language to control smart home devices and operate services.
For example, “Turn off the lights!”Even if you say that, it will recognize that you are telling it to turn off the lights and will turn them off.
Or, if you say “Let’s go to sleep!”, it will determine that the user is trying to go to bed and turn off the lights and close the curtains. Instead, it will turn on soft mood lighting to help you sleep until you fall asleep.
And that's not all. Even if the user leaves the house without turning on the power to an appliance or turning off the gas stove, the system automatically recognizes this fact and turns off the power to the appliance or closes the valve.
Likewise, when you return from going out, the living room lights turn on and the curtains open along with the greeting from the doll.
This is because intelligent home services are provided that do what the user needs without using a smartphone app or saying anything.
The smart home devices and intelligent home services that support the Matter standard introduced by Watts Matter this time are the results of the '2024 Intelligent Home Service Verification and Expansion Project' hosted by the National IT Industry Promotion Agency (NIPA).
“With NIPA’s support, we have been able to develop and supply devices that support Matter, the global smart home standard,” said Kim Hak-yong, CEO of WattsMatter, a well-known expert in Matter standards and the Internet of Things.
These devices are currently undergoing certification to KC and Matter standards, and some products are expected to be available to consumers as early as November.
We plan to supply 10 types of Matter devices domestically by next year, including 5 types of Matter devices this year.
Through this, Wattsmatter is expected to strengthen its competitiveness in the domestic smart home market and lay the foundation for entering the global market.
CEO Kim Hak-yong said, “We have been able to realize a truly intelligent home through AI and Matter standards,” and expressed his ambition, “We will continue to provide a user-centered smart home experience through continuous innovation.”
