“Professional-level contest proves the excellence of ‘Creaform’”
Utilize high performance and accuracy engineering work such as machinery and vehicles
Peel3D Entry Scanner/Silver Scanner Promotion for SMEs
[Editor's Note]
Recently, Creaform held the '2023 Creaform Contest', a reverse engineering competition utilizing 3D technologies such as 3D scanners and 3D printers. Unlike previous events, this event was conducted in a way that experts participated, obtained scan data using a 3D scanner, and then conducted reverse engineering, 3D printing, and dimensional inspection with the data and evaluated the results. In particular, it went beyond simply evaluating the reverse engineering capabilities of 3D scanner users to the stage of manufacturing actual products, thereby enhancing its professionalism. We met with Kim Geon-ah, Head of Creaform Business Division, who hosted this event, to hear about the overall competition.
■ The 'Creaform Contest 2023' has come to a grand conclusion. Please give us an overall review of this event along with an introduction to the event.
This contest was implemented with the purpose of developing content for power users through influencers with specialized skills, going beyond the purpose of finding influencers for beginners in the previous event.
Through the tasks and results discovered during the 2023 contest, influencer champions who fit this year's purpose were selected, and we plan to conduct headquarters-level marketing activities with these individuals in the future.
We would like to express our gratitude to the production staff who worked hard to prepare and run the event, the event participants, and the Creaform customers who watched.
■ Unlike previous events, this event was a real showdown between experts. While previous events emphasized the ease of use of 3D scanners that even beginners can easily learn, this event is said to have fully demonstrated the performance of Creaform’s 3D scanner as the best equipment to help professionals with their designs. Could you please explain the performance and features of Creaform's 3D scanner and its characteristics for professional use?
Creaform's equipment is always easy to use even for beginners, and its uses are as professional as those of our champions. As the theme of this contest's assignment suggests, you can see engineering tasks that require high performance and accuracy, such as reverse engineering of machinery and tuning of automobile interiors, performed with an easy-to-use portable scanner.
The laser scanner is a Blue laser Silver model that supports accuracy of up to 0.030mm, and can be used for everything from heat-related devices in laptops to reverse engineering the exterior of electric vehicles. The new entry-level model, Peel3D, can be used in a variety of applications, including automobiles, large devices, and AR/VR.
Compared to the Peel2 scanner used in the last competition, the newly released Silver Blue laser scanner and Peel3 model have been proven through the contest to have expanded the range of professional-level applications based on upgraded performance.
■ In this event, in addition to the existing reverse engineering tasks, the results were printed directly using a 3D printer. Perhaps because it was a competition between experts. I wonder what it meant
For this contest, we added 3D printing to the process to see how closely the results produced by the experts matched the actual plans, and in collaboration with the 3D Systems engineering team, we tried to reflect how much the contest participants incorporated design elements for printing into their reverse engineering work.
This will likely be an opportunity for industry experts to experience the final workflow from 3D scanning to 3D printing, providing insight into the direction of content that future champions will produce.
■ Please give a brief introduction of the Creaform HandySCAN Silver model and the new peel3d peel3 model used in this competition. The HandyScan Silver model is a portable scanner that was released at a price of less than 50 million won, with an upgraded version of the HandyScanner 700 model, which previously had the industry's highest resolution of 0.030mm, and is designed to be more resistant to various surface materials and noise.
Unlike previous Peel products, the Peel3 product is designed with a completely new optical + VCSEL light source to enable scanning of products and environments with high surface reflections and noise that were difficult with previous optical scanners.
In addition, Peel.CAD SW has expanded the market for Peel3 products by enabling professionals to utilize the entry scanner in various ways as a single platform SW that supports both reverse engineering and measurement.
■ What is the point of selecting the winner of this competition? The winners will serve as promotional ambassadors for one year. I would like to hear about their promotional activities and future plans.trong>
The winner's selection points were given to helping professionals who are new to our portable scanner equipment or the scanner itself by creating content that they would see or need, and promoting the special features of our product.
With these winners, Peel3D will be working on content and promotional activities to position the Silver Scanner as a more user-friendly and versatile entry-level scanner, and as the most preferred and widely used scanner for mechanical design and quality experts in small and medium-sized businesses.
■ Lastly, please say a word to the readers. We would like to express our gratitude for your continued support and expectations. Creaform will continue to strive to be a partner that creates various solutions and products that customers and the market need.
thank you
