Luke van den Hove, Chairman of Imec, visits Korea
Imec will hold the 'Imec Technology Forum Korea (ITF Korea)' at the Grand InterContinental Seoul Parnas Hotel in Samseong-dong on February 18th.
This year's ITF Korea event, held in Korea for the first time in nine years since 2016, brings together domestic technology leaders, semiconductor experts, and industry innovation leaders to share the latest in semiconductor technology.
The event will feature a presentation by Luc Van den Hove, President and CEO of Imec, discussing current challenges and new opportunities.
Chairman and CEO Luke van den Hove will also deliver a keynote speech on the topic of “The Diverse Future of Semiconductor Systems” at SEMICON Korea 2025, Korea’s largest semiconductor industry trade show, which will be held at COEX in Seoul from February 19 to 21. It will emphasize the importance of international cooperation to maximize the potential of semiconductor technology in various applications.
“The world has changed significantly since ITF Korea in 2016,” said Luke van den Hove, Chairman and CEO. “The rapid development of AI and deep tech industries is creating unprecedented computing demands and having a major impact on the environment.”
“Access to advanced semiconductor technologies is essential for deep-tech startups to pursue innovation in healthcare, biotech, and nanotech, while existing industries such as automobiles, sensors, and connectivity can also use these technologies to innovate themselves and seize new growth opportunities,” he said.
Imec plans to sign a business agreement (MOU) with the Nano Comprehensive Technology Institute, a domestic nano infrastructure organization, in conjunction with this event. Through this, it aims to further strengthen cooperation with the Korean semiconductor ecosystem.
Park Heung-soo, Director of the Nano Convergence Technology Institute, said, “This business agreement with Imec formalizes the internship program that began last year and provides an opportunity for outstanding domestic talent to gain valuable experience at the Imec headquarters. This agreement is an example that shows that international cooperation plays an important role in fostering the next generation of semiconductor experts.”
